Daburu KK - Editorial Notes - January 20, 2008

It was suggested that I visit the Chuck Norris web site to view what he is doing with his foundation called Kick Start.   I did so.  I was delighted to see that Mr. Norris is of the same mind-set as all of us who are passionate about what KARATE can do for children.  I contacted the "powers that be" hoping for a word from Mr. Norris for this magazine.  He was not available but I did get permission to quote from his site.  www.kick-start.org  I shall do so.  He says.....................

......."Today our organization is a charachter building,life-skills program whose fundamental purpose is to give our students the tools to strengthen their self-image.  When a child develops a strong sense of self-awarness and inner strength,they are able to resist peer pressure including drug and alcohol use and involvement in gangs.

In addition, martial arts training provides them with the core values and philosophies associated with leading a productive and healthy life.  That is what we are all about..to give every child a chance for a productive life in which they CAN achieve their goals and dreams..............."
